What the app does
It shows official UK food hygiene ratings and food alerts. It is not an official service of the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and is not endorsed by it.
No accounts, no app server
The app talks directly from your device to the services listed below. We do not receive your searches, location, allergens, favourites or history.
What stays on your device
Recent searches, favourites, chosen allergens, theme, your daily search count and, for paid users, rating history and saved offline rating summaries. Widgets and the Apple Watch app share saved favourites and recent checks with your devices through Apple's App Groups and Watch connection. Deleting the app removes this data.

We do not send your allergens, health preferences or search history to anyone. We do not sell personal data. We use no analytics SDK.
Location
Used only if you tap Near Me or turn on the optional nearby widgets, and sent directly to the FSA to find nearby businesses. The app does not store your coordinates. The nearby widgets keep only a list of up to ten business summaries and the time checked.
Advertising and your choices
Free users see Google banner ads and may watch an optional video to earn one extra search. Paid users see no ads. On first use, Google's consent form asks for your choice. You can change it at any time in Settings > Ad Choices & Privacy Consent. Refusing does not reduce your three free searches. Tracking across other companies' apps and websites needs your separate permission through Apple's prompt, which you can start from Settings. Declining it does not reduce your free searches. We never grant a reward for clicking an ad.
Legal bases

Retention
We hold nothing on our systems. Google, Apple, the FSA, postcodes.io and OpenStreetMap keep data under their own policies.
This website
foodhygieneradar.com uses no cookies, no analytics and no trackers. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes your IP address to deliver and protect the site.
Children
The app is not aimed at children. [Confirm App Store age rating and under-18 ad settings.]
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold (we expect nothing). You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. For data held by the services above, contact them directly.

We will update this page and its date when the app's data use changes.
